For the past twenty minutes or so my nose has been making a tiny whistling noise every time I breathe out. It sounds similarly to Kate Winslet's awful acting in the end of Titanic when she is faintly whistling for the boats return to her half frozen body. When I was a little girl this sound occasionally happened and my Dad always called it a "whistle noise," fittingly enough. Anyways, I felt sick all day today, which was a bummer. I woke up with a pounding headache, and an extremely sore throat. Every time I yawn or open up my mouth widely for whatever reason it hurts really bad. I can always tell when I'm getting a cold because I feel a concentrated tingling sensation in the very lower part of my inside of my noise. Almost like the feeling you get before you have to sneeze, but it's constantly there.
This morning when I left Kathryn's I desperately needed to get gas, even though there was slight thunder and distant lightning and it was pouring out. It was raining so hard and the wind was blowing the rain at an angle so the overhang above the gas pumps was ineffective, leaving me soaking wet by the time I got back in the car. I also was not wearing shoes because my sandals were leathery and I didn't want them to smell. Plus it's such a pain in the ass to clasp them every time I want to take them off or put them on. I am trying to weigh whether or not the cuteness and trendiness of the sandals are worth all the hassle or buckling them. While pumping, two middle-aged ladies at surrounding pumps stared at me dirtily, most likely because my pants were rolled up and I was bare foot and my hair was frizzy and curly and greasy and I looked like a train wreck. Not to mention it was 7:30 in the morning. I couldn't sleep at Kathryn's and wanted to go into my own bed. Do you ever get that feeling when you just really want to lay in your own bed? I had it so bad.
I stayed in my room for the majority of the day watching the first season of The O.C. I'd never seen it before, but now I am hooked. I watched 6 episodes, equalling around 5 hours. Then Jen and Jack came over at 10:30 at night for less than an hour so we could say our Goodbyes to Lanny, who I will not speak to for 3 weeks while he's in Europe and I'm in New Hampshire. Oh yeah, so I'm going to New Hampshire on the 18th of July, staying in a great cabin on a lake and just relaxing. Go fishing, hiking, jet skiing on the lake, and more lake shore type of activities. It will be very calm and I will finally be able to catch up on some reading.
Oh, I forgot to mention my experience dressed as a man on Wednesday. It was Kathryn's birthday celebration and it was a costume party. Kathryn was Michael Jackson and I was Billy Mays, the Oxi Clean guy. It was all in good taste though. A tribute to the late great you could say. Anyways, I realized that being a female in a public place while wearing men's clothing and a fake eyeliner beard isn't fun or good for you self esteem. It was extremely uncomfortable, especially in a Price Chopper in Worcester at nine o'clock in the middle of the week. People there don't have very good senses of humor, I guess. Well, I will be forever more picking out costumes that don't involve cross dressing and beard wearing. It did make for an interesting experience, however.
